Had lunch down at the old covered bridge site. Eric & Emerson reading the Naramore grave on the way out.
Countering the nattering nabobs of negativism and the hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history.

28 June 2020 Rutland State Forest / MDC Lands
Another trip up, probably need one more to finish going through all the main loops. Before the rat bastards get their way and close off vehicle access (the hearing that got re-scheduled now seems on indefinite hold for Covid-19).

Signs were a bit intimidating, but Eric knew the guy in the last house who said it was fine. Researching later, looks like it's still a town road and leads into a state wildlife management area.
This started off as a wrong turn, what a glorious find :)
While one of the old roads was definitively closed off by BIG boulders (Jeep winch ain't moving them, doubt the winch on a 2-1/2 ton forest fire truck could move them...usually they are small enough forestry trucks can man handle them, this would require a payloader).

26 July 2020 -- Old Haunts
More Buck Hill exploration, with Bryan!
29 July 2020 -- Old K Road, Killingly
Hey look at that, there is a state barway I never noticed before...un-barred :)

Where the heck and how the heck did these large, sharp rocks get here? Was it machinery? Animal drawn from nearby ledges? Once used to close off the road? Just a goot place for waste? They are unusual!

Where the better part of the road narrows up quite a bit, guess I'll turn around. To the left is the parking area for a land trust parcel of land.

Leaving, and what should I see across the road, but another open barway to state land!

This is a really narrow trail.

...and I have no cutting tools with me. Made an about twenty point turn :)

31 July 2020 -- D Road, Plainfield
While re-hydrating after taking photos at the brush fire along with the powerlines between Elliot & Cherry Hill, drove around a bit and checked another one off the list, never went down here before other than poking my pickup nose in from either end in the past. Looked muddy, but it's easy squeezy. Primarily passes through a portion of Pachaug forest and still shows as a ROW on the town property maps.

First run to the Red Cottage
Hot Saturday, time to go to the Red Cottage.
Originally planned to camp out in the Jeep, but realized I didn't bring a sweatshirt and blanket needed to be comfortable on the shore at night.
Hmmm, looks like a fire up ahead as I go through Foster!

Honestly don't know what that is burning...a Miata? A large garden tractor?
Got to the cottage before Eric & Missy did. Made like an otter and floated for a couple hours before they even got there.

Well that's an unfortunate placement of sunscreen lotion on a couple good pics :D
